Iphone 3GS shows no service

This is driving me nuts, went through process to change jailbreak to 6.0 and appears to have worked but in the about menu it still shows as 6.1.6 and cydia is on my phone but am getting no service showing, what am i doing wrong?. Could someone help me please.
