Wow, this sounds great. I still don't see how the original iPhone can't handle videos and MMS. Cheaper and "crappier" phones even have the ability to do this. Anyways, I can't wait for the new iPhone to come out. I'll give my white iPhone 3G to my dad and I'll purchase the new iPhone. :P

I know what you mean Eric. I've heard of people using the first gen iPhone with SwirlyMMS and being able to send and receive MMS so it leads me to believe that Apple is just using that as a sales tactic.

Okay so they did this on an iphone 3g, assuming its not jailbroken, where did they get the video to send over the text message, and how does he iphone play thus file, like with quicktime?

or maybe apple will add video feature for the current iphones somewhat similar to that of cycorder or iphone video recorder jailbreak apps?

and also. if i'm on a iPhone 3G NOT JAILBROKEN OR UNLOCKED with Telstra in Australia, would i be able to update my iPhone to a cracked version of 3.0?

and the iPhone being used above is jailbroken, because the writing inbetween the signal bars and the wi-fi has been changed to "iPhone", unless they changed it after they took the screenshot on a computer.

idk if anyone noticed, there was an update on sbsettings last night... well my point is, i did the update n it was taking way too long to respring(phone was frozen) so i shut off n phone wont get pass logo now!!! any have any ideas?

Only way out of that is restore buddy... Happened to me with FontSwap ... Really sucks... U have to hold sleep+home till the 2nd apple comes up then let go of the sleep and the "plug into iTunes" should pop up...plug it into your PC and restore and jailbreak all over

Yep MMS can be sent/received on a 2G iPhone using SwirlyMMS.

Thanks for the clarification Crazy. I wasn't aware that that was how SwirlyMMS worked. But are you sure? If that is the case then why would I need to put my SIM card in a different phone and do all that to get it to send and receive MMS?

The iPhone will be able to send and receive photos to and from any phone capable of sending and receiving MMS. The same is true for video MMS

I noticed the update. I had to update 8 things last night. SBSettings just underwent slight changes and I'm sorry that broke your phone! That's real unfortunate. Honestly though, the changes weren't so much worth updating for. One that sticks out in my mind was the Free Memory almost displays instantly instead of taking up to 5 seconds like it used to.

Not saying my theory is true but if it were true that Apple wasn't using this to sell or cause buyers to upgrade their old phones, wouldn't they just employ the same method SwirlyMMS used to send and receive MMS?

thanks :), i already knew that but my only problem is... im a tmobile customer so i had mmy 3g jailbroke+unlock n if i update to the lastest version... im not gonna be able to unlock with yellowsn0w :( n thats no bueno if anyone has a work around or something ill b very glad to hear that

If you have a Mac then use the PwnTool to create your own .ipsw that preserves the baseband or if you don't you could find a friend that has a Mac or look for a reliable ****/download.

i have access to a mac now how do i use pwntool to create the ips? i've read a lil about that but im not so familiar with macs its been a while since i used one so a link would be very helpfull :)

so what will happen, if i upgrade to 3.0 on my locked 3G with Telstra in Australia? could somebody please reply. if i jailbreak it after could i do anything with it? and if i jailbreak, and then it stuffs up somehow and i need to get it replaced by apple, if i just restore it would tey give me a return?

They'll give you a return, you just have to make sure you eliminate all evidence of a jailbreak

in uk o2 turn off mms i have phoned them lotsof time
to turn it on b the refuse, so if firmware is going to
make mms work o2 still have it off on my handset -
