you are right. you will not be able to install that program (downgrader) without downloading it from cydia(which requires jailbreaking).

still if we cannot upgrade to the 3.0 and then downgrade the baseband to 2.28.00 whats the big deal?

Once the downgrade is done you need to run yellowsnow, working fine with my 5.08 bootloader.

So I want to jailbreak my iphone...which means i have to downgrade my baseband from 3.0 to 2.28. Well the instructions above say that you have to download the fuzzyband downgrade tool through cydia, which is only available on a jailbroken iphone??? I'm definitely missing something here. If I had a jailbroken iphone, why would i need to downgrade my baseband? the whole point is to jail break it! Please help.

The reason to downgrade the baseband is to allow users to unlock their
iPhone who might have accidentally upgraded to firmware 2.2.1 without
preserving the baseband. It does not have anything to do with jailbreaking. -
Guys i downgrade it, and it works perfect.. problem now beign every time i change my sim card I get put on the emergency screen?? how can i bypass this

I’ve recently jailbroke & unlocked 2 3G Iphones with bootloader 6.0 and baseband 2.30. I have basically taken the steps as stated, however I was not aware of the bootloader issue at the time. So, I took a different solution for the unlock part and bought on Ebay the “2009 Gevey 3g PLUS 2″ turbo sim for $ 9.00. I was very skeptical about the turbo sim, but decided to give it a try and it worked as a charm with T-Mobile USA and a Dutch provider called Telfort (roaming in the USA via T-Mobile).
p.s. Be sure that you buy an original “2009 Gevey 3g PLUS 2″ turbo sim. I heard horror stories about non-original ones, like not fitting in the sim slot or being stuck in the sim slot.

unfortunately i have updated to 3.10 with the new itunes 9.
after i while i managed to jailbreak the phone and unlock it. But it was not possible to get a signal of my provider because the baseband has changed to ICE2-05.11.07i also have 5.80 as bootloader
but your tool does not work with this baseband. Do you have a solution for me to downgrade the baseband ?thanks a lot and best regards

by the way... i have a iphone 3 G ...not a GS... and i was able to downgrade to firmware 3.0 again

Yeah im about the same page as so many other people....baseband 5.11.07....bootloaded 6.04..... iphone jailbroken but not fully unlocked....QQ...all i want to know is....is the dev team actually working on finding a way? like actually trying? or have they given up entirely? please post!!!!

stucked with base band 5.11 and cant downgrade it to 4.26 even with the fuzzyband as my bootloader version is 6.04.
Any news on dev. teams unlocking iphone with BB 5.11?? Desperatly waiting for experts comments!!!

hey i just talked to this guy who happens to work at at&t he said try to use mobile ****. its possible to downgrade the iphone wit the 5.9 just gotta find the right person todo it. im going to try it myself so i will update u guys if it works or not.
