Cannot delete apps from JB'd iPad Air 2 with iOS 8.1.2

I have been successfully using my new iPad Air 2, jailbroken - IOS 8.1.2. I have tried to backup my tablet using backupAZ. This appeared to work, but really I can't be sure. My problem is that I have been loading interesting apps from the CYDIA libraries and I suspect some of these are problematic. My system no longer permits deletion of apps from the Home pages, using the "tap - shake - tap the X" protocol which I have used for years on other machines. I cannot move the app icon from page to page, or into a folder. I run the risk of my configuration of apps degrading, unless I can delete the apps and move corresponding icons.
Any suggestions, (other than to un-jailbreak to the factory IOS,) would be appreciated.
I have invested many hours of time in tuning the app configuration to do what I want. I would like to keep it that way.
Thank you for your advice and/or comments.
