Animated Launch Image for iOS 8

Hi there
New to this forum and may have messaged iPhone Hacks this before now, so apologies.
We are building an App for all platforms and need help with iOS platform etc. please
Is there anyway of animating a loading image for an ios App
The William Hill App on start up they have a shooting star - we would like the word "LOADING" either glowing or fading in and out.
We have tried gif and then converting to a png, and set it as the launch image for the APP and still isnt working.
Please advise if anyone has had this situation before.
