Is it still possible to upgrade to just 8.1.2

So I just got a ipad mini 2 and I want to jailbreak it. In consideration of how the firmwares cannot be jailbroken, is it possible to just upgrade to 8.1.2? Or should I just jailbreak whatever version that my ipad mini 2 comes with now (7.xx)

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 at this point.

    It might be possible sometime in the future if you were able to save iOS 8.1.2 SHSH Blobs using TinyUmbrella, but not at the moment.
