Hello team,
I would like to know if I can update my iphone 5 with ios 7.0.4 to a newer version?
I was told that jailbreak doesn't allow it.

You can update your device to iOS 8.3, which is the latest version.

Don't forget to take a backup of your device, and use update using iTunes. -
Thank you Gautam... I forgot to add that my iphone 5 has jailbreak.
Is it possible to update it to a recent ios version in this case? -
It is possible. However, you will end up losing the jailbreak, and the jailbreak tweaks that are installed on your device.
Please take a backup using iTunes, and also take a backup of your photos and other important things separately, as there is a risk that your device will go into recovery mode during the update process. So if the backup is not taken there is a risk of losing your personal data. -
Mr. Gautam, if happened i lost my jailbreak after my update to the newer version? Can i still jailbreak again my newer version (8.0 or higher) iPhone?
