iPad mini 2 recently downloaded iOS 8.3 .It has suddenly wiped all the pictures (avatars?)

Nearly all the pictures on my home screen buttons which relate to websites that I have saved there have been removed. The buttons remain with their title but are now white with a black design inside and still work. Any ideas to restore them?
