Found an iphone 6plus but having problems unlocking it

Hello,
A friend of mine found an iphone 6 plus and it has a passcode on it. She is bringing the phone on wensday so atm I cant tell you exactlywhy its not working. But I told her to put it in recovery mode connect it to itunes and reset it but she claims thats not working for some reason, I can see the phone wensday and see if she just made a mistake but is there a chance that the phone has findmyiphone or an apple account attached that is blocking it?
