Need your help guys iPhone 5 GSM with JB 6.1.2

So I have this iPhone 5 A1428 with 6.1.2 (JB)
I want to update to ios8. Downloaded the proper ipsw but when I try to update via iTunes I get:
"this iphone *** could not be updated. this device isn't eligible for the requested build."
I looked all over the internet, tried all the solutions (updated itunes, checked the hosts file etc.) nothing worked.
Please help. Any clue will be greatly appreciated!

You need to download the latest iOS version, which is iOS 8.4.1 currently.
You can download the appropriate firmware from this link:
http://www.iphonehacks.com/download-iphone-ios-firmware
If you want to jailbreak your device then you can download iOS 8.4, which is still being signed by Apple. -
