Your **** is slow as f***k dude spend some money over iPhone and update your ****... Who uses tethering anyways there wifi all over so cal

Found that maxis, the official Provider for iPhone in Malaysia not affected. I used Maxis SIM and tethering is avail.
My provider Celcom does not have the correspondent carrier bundle hence default to generic carrier bundle and tethering is gone.
I was doing an update but it wipes out the carrier bundle I installed earlier.
So I am have a choice now to either restore my old backup; downgrade to prior 3.0 and have the carrier bundle installed, then upgrade to 3.0, which may ruin my iPhone; or simply change the provider. My iPhone is officially unlocked by the way.
Any suggestion?

So your problem is that you need to update your carrier file?
I believe that all you have to do is update your ipcc which you can do via iTunes.
If you have a Mac than you have to run a command through iTunes so that it will allow you to select it. I don't know how to do it on a Windows computer cause I don't have one.
Hope this helps.

the new iTunes closed the door for ipcc updates via iTunes. The old version of iTunes cannot connect to iPhone 3.1 beta 2 if I am not wrong. Anyway, will try using the old version to see if I can get it connected.

MyWi is much better than pdanet

ipcc trick not working. the new iPhone 3.1 beta 2 carrier bundle APN settings are signed, beyond my ability to crack or create a new signature.
anyway, iTunes able to load ipcc by enabling the carrier testing flag to true.
I have fall back to 3.0 as I have spent far too much time trying to workaround. Refer to my blog post for what's happening if you wish
