My Old Work Phone...

I recently left my employer and they let me keep my iPhone 6 Plus. It has a Verizon phone number tied to it. Aside from contacting Verizon, what do I have to do to delete this number from the phone, so that it's like a brand new phone that I can then get a new number for. TIA.
