Messenger chat... random picture shows up during conversation.

I was talking to a friend the other night and while chatting a picture pops up on his screen. I would have to select the file and find it and send it normally by me intended for him. I did not do anything and it popped up. About 10 mins later the same thing happened randomly as we were talking. Has anyone experienced this? I do know the person that the pictures from but those pictures are not on my photos. Very strange.... I need help.
