The much-awaited Facebook for iPhone OS 3.0 is now available on the iPhone App Store. Joe Hewitt, developer of the iPhone app had submitted the third iteration of their iPhone app on Aug. 16 to Apple for approval. So if you have been waiting eagerly for the new version download...

Yeah, it still seems to show the older version on iTunes and the update is
not available yet. The trick to get the new version is to delete the iPhone
app from your iPhone and then reinstall it from the App Store. You will get
the new version. It worked for me. -

its broke, it won't upload pics from the camera role.

I actually got the push notification on the app store when this came out. I really like the new format, especially how the main screen acts like the iphone springboard by allowing you to move, rearrange, add or delete new icons. I don't think this has push notifications yet though. I think that is the only thing it is missing.

If iTunes is still showing version 2.5 on your desktop, click the "Facebook" breadcrumb on the page's top navigation. Refreshing the Web page won't necessarily do the trick. On the iPhone, delete the Facebook application and download it a new from the App Store on your phone. Even if the app page does not say it's version 3.0, the new version should install.

The "Chat" function is very odd. It mutated the keyboard and was unresponsive no matter what I did, close and reopen, reboot etc, etc

I don't get it. its says I have 7 notifications but when I press the bar at the bottom of th home screen it says "ERROR" Your notifications could not be loaded at this time" lammmme!!

Would say that, thats a network error rather than the app have had the apps installed over 10 hours now and had no problems chat, notifications all work fine

You dont even have to delete the old one just download normally and it will update. CHeers Good app

Why does facebook still not have push notifications? My friend has a blackberry, and when you send him a message, his facebook app let's him know. I really want the iPhone app to alert me. I wonder why they still haven't added push?

new version of Facebook app which will include Push Notifications. -

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to enable the voice controls, video recording, & extra camera features on iPhone 3G. I feel like it must be in the 3.0 software, but it is only enabled for the 3GS. Thanks!

Ok. I wonder what's taking so long? It seems like a pretty easy thing to add. Just tac it on to the process that sends out emails everytime something happens. Maybe I'm wrong...

yeah it's cool and all, but still can't delete posts to my wall from the profile view. i swipe and choose delete, but they'll show up when refreshed.

how sad is this i'm looking at this old article because facebook no longer works with my iphone 3g ios 3.0. i can't upgrade because 4.0 makes the phone SO SLOW. sadness :(
