Software Version for iPhone 4

I have an iPhone4 - A1332.
I am still running iOS 7.1.1. Settings / Software update tells me that I can update to iOS 9.3.5.
Should I update my software or just leave it alone?

    We see no reason why you shouldn't update. It will at least allow you to download apps that are compatible with iOS 9 or higher, and not to forget all the new features in iOS 9.

    But don't forget to take a backup before you upgrade.

    hi dear i have used iphone 4s phone older software version then i update my phone some error can be not update and he show the icon conect the itune please give sollution

    Yes - the only reason I am wanting to update is because so many apps are not compatible with this older version. My hesitancy has been worry about performance.
    Q - You don't think I will have issues with performance
