New Hacks Enable MMS on iPhone 2G and Tethering Feature on iPhone OS 3.1.2
The non-availability of the MMS feature for 1st generation iPhone (iPhone 2G) was probably one of the most disappointing news for iPhone 2G users that was announced at the WWDC 2009 Keynote address. Apple had introduced MMS feature in iPhone OS 3.0 but is officially available to only iPhone 3Gand...

there is an Easy Way, go in Cydia to Categories -> Respositeris -> add Iphone-Notes.de
And in this Repo you will find on the end Tethering for 3G and 3Gs for Firmware 3.1.2 (its pretty the Dev Team Hack as a Patch)
After that go to www.iphone-notes.de/mobileconfig and download your Carrier Settings. And everything should work smoothly with Tethering on 3.1.2
Worked for me !
-
I tried it but with a slight tweak and it works fine for me. WOOOOOOW thanks i miss my tethering.
-
I did an itunes upgrade to 3.1.2 before I used blackra1n and somehow I never lost the tethering ability. Could that be because of a previous tethering hack and my restore?
-
worked great for me! thanks!
-
works great thanks dev team!!!!

how do I know which one i my carrier settings im wuth att
-
are you with att in the US? if so scroll down to US ATT the first one is the one i used which worked fine for me

Worked on Iphone 3GS 3.1.2 with firmware 5.11.07. For Carrier update scroll down at the end. Look for US AT&T, Choose the first one.

Worked on 3GS 3.1.2 but IT DISABLES VVM. Once the apn was removed I recieved all test VVM. Need work around running carrier settings 5.6 with no network adjustment options.
-
Has anyone tried this method to go around the VVM issue. http://www.cultofmac.com/how-to-fix-visual-voicemail-after-att-tethering-hack/13303.
"But it’s easily fixed. On the iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Reset and hit the Reset Network Settings button.
When the iPhone reboots, VVM is working again and the tethering hack still works."
-
This hack did not work for me.
-
Easy fix for tethering on 3.1.2. Download mywi from Rick app. It is not a free fix but not only does it enable tethering but it turns your phone into a wifi hotspot. Very nice app.
-
Worked for me, But my VVM seems like its not working, I Noticed I couldn't go in and change any of those network settings to fix it like I could with earlier fixes, doing a reset (without losing data) doesn't seem to fix it in my case either.
-
To fix Visual Voice Mail, I had to go to Settings | General then remove the unsigned AT&T profile at the bottom. After that I tapped Reset | Reset Network Settings. The phone rebooted and VMM updated with all of the voicemails that previously did not appear there.
Like one of the previous posts, my tethering hack was still present after upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2. After doing my steps above, I noticed that the tethering option was still available on my iPhone. However, when I attempted to enable it, the tether switch in the GUI went away and failed to provide my laptop with Internet connectivity. Now my General | Network menu options are back to factory default. This procedure confirms both how to remove the tethering hack and how to fix VMM.
I followed the instructions from the first commenter to install the new tethering hack for 3.1.2 and noticed VMM was, again, disabled. I removed the package from iphone-notes.de, removed the newly-created profile (now called "Enable Tethering"), Reset Network Settings again, and now VMM is working. This, of course, disables tethering.
Looks like it's one or the other. We can't have both as of this date.

aww man....just read this and tried checking my VVM and its a dud...disabled tethering....i guess i'll have to wait till the problem is resolved...

Each Carrier file now appears to have signatures within it. Completely scratch the idea of updating this with a configuration profile. If you go into [username]\Library\iTunes\Iphone Carrier Support, in there should be your latest ATT_US.ipcc file. If you take that, unzip it, and go within and take out the carrier.plist file, and with apples plist editor, change the apn wap.cingular's tpye-mask value from (4) to (-2).....then reverse package the thing and you now have a carrier update file specific to your phone complete with your signatures that will enable TETHERING.
-
Oh yah, and VVM is not affected.
Thank you. -
Everyone that has tried this hack and the VVM stopped working what kind of phones did you have 3G or 3GS? I have a 3G but don't have the experience to fix it if my VVM stops working.
-
is there a way to get tethering on 3.1.0?
-
does this work only with jailbroken iphones or is this for anybody?.
i tryed it but i don't know where to copy the /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenter to your Desktop, can somebody please tell me how to -
I have a 3G. With the steps I wrote out it should be fairly straight forward.
-
Can anyone explain what "reverse package the thing" means? Or maybe my question should be: what do I do with the updated ipcc file after I've edited carrier.plist?
-
got the apple and wheel now stuck.
oh well part of the game. -
Take carrier.plist and put it back into the ATT_US folder, then re add the extension to that folder so it is now titled ATT_US.bundle then put the bundle back into payload. then put the payload folder back into the zip file named ATT_US.zip. Then change the zip file back to .ipcc Nowwwwww, update your carrier settings with this file. When you update your iphones carrier settings with a carrier settings configuration file specific to your phone (complete with your signatures in it), your phone should not reject it. Your visual voicemail is not affected and your tethering menu should not be active.

dang im not so computer savy...haha i want to tether but im scared im gonna mess something up...
