Jailbroken iPhones Hit With 'RickRoll' Worm
If you are one of those users who had jailbroken their iPhones but did not care to change the default password after installing SSH, you might want to do it now. A new worm has been infecting those jailbroken iPhones that still carry the same default 'alpine' password. As such,...

I download mobile terminal and it installs but when I go to open it stays for a few seconds and then closes down. Any help please?

Haha I was wondering why I had this random bloke on my screen when a friend of mine called... I think winterboard puts it's background over the top of the singer guy, and as such I only see him at random intervals. A bit scary to think my phone got infected though! I'm in Melbourne, Australia

The _first_ thing anyone should do on a jailbroken iphone with openssh installed is change the root password or disable the root account in the ssh config. If you haven't done it, you're an idiot and deserve to be RickRolled. It was only a matter of time before this happened. I'm actually shocked it didn't happen sooner given the amount of uneducated people that use the default password. Seriously, if you don't understand a package in its entirety and the security implications associated with it, you probably shouldn't use it until you arm yourself with much more information.

My question is this... My phone is already jailbroken. So if I've never installed openSSH before, do I have to worry about still changing my password? Or now that's it's jailbroken do I change the password anyways?
I'm getting mixed info from different sites pertaining to this... One says to change the password even though openSSH isn't installed on my iPhone, say not to worry since it's not installed. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

1. Download MobileTerminal from Cydia or your choice of installer if you don't already have it.
2. After you have MobileTerminal, launch it. Upon launch, you will see a command prompt.
3. Type su and hit return and you will then be asked for a password. This is logging you in as an administrator.
4. Your default password is alpine so enter that and press return again.
5. Now type passwd then hit return.
6. You should now be prompted to enter a new password. Enter your new password here and hit return.
7. You'll be asked to verify your new password, so do that, hit return, and you're done!

For someone who names themselves after Bob, your kind of arrogant. Yes, my phone got rickrolled, so I guess I am an idiot. Meanwhile your just a dork who names himself Bob Marley. Go grow a dreadlock.
