the guy typing on the iphone is so slow tough but the idea is not bad , nice to have it on the iphone even juste for a try out .... maybe on jailbroken iphone in a couple of month ... :D

I think that, as with any advertisement, they set it up where the product you are advertising wins. I think the guy on the iPhone is typing slow as hell...

I just tested myself against the video and was completely finished, no errors, before the swypest reached the word "through".

i have seen a program like that for win mobile phones, it was pretty cool. I would love to see it come to the iphone!

Interesting but surely this is a take-off of Phat Software's WritePad [available in AppStore [since 2008]. Given that the authors names are quite different is there some copying here??

Ofcourse they had to put a newbie to type on the iPhone I've been using this thing for over a year and I love it swyping seems weird but to have as an option on the iPhone would b cool, along with apple catching up in making a kick ass 3.2 firmware to compete with the droid a.k.a. Better push n a notifications menu would b nice, CUSTOMIZE CUSTOMIZE!!! ...sigh

im with other guys i can type about 75 percent as fast on my iphoen compared to standard keyboarrd.. -
I did a typing test on my iphone and scored 55wpm. On a regular keyboard, I type over 85wpm. Both of the guys on the video are typing way too slow.

Not bad, but it won't be better than iPhone's QWERTY keyboard layout. It simply isn't faster for those who know how to type quickly with a thumb or two.

Very interesting- I agree with pretty much everyone that the iPhone typist is super slow. However the swype technology is interesting, seems like a gimmick more than anything. I found a few hiccups that I hope some one can clear up for me. Going in to type words with repeated letters immediately, such as the word "better" How would you go about typing the double t's? I started typing on the shapewriter app and got stuck here. Seems like a flaw in the design? I don't know what do you guys think?

I did try to type along with the video, making up my text as I went along, a decent combination of long and short words and I did 35 in the same time the Swypist did his 25... and I had only one minor mistake in my text. Not sure this Swype idea is more than a curiosity as the iPhone keyboard quickly becomes familiar and having to Swype will only slow you down and prevent the use of two fingers.

I would dominate anyone on my blackberry. I like swype, its better than iphone typing but not better than a keyboard.

to make a squiggle on the letter that is to be repeated. -

Ok, the person using swype did it in 53 secounds.
I did it in 53 secounds as well (iPhone 3GS), but I also managed to start the timer, go into notes, create a new note, type the message, go back in to the timer app and press stop (and I did make one HUGE typo I had to correct).Interesting, but no match for good typists on the iPhone

The only thing I forgot was the comma in the beginning haha. Regardless, it took me 22 seconds to type the whole thing without any errors albeit the missing comma. -
I bet you guys anything I can type on the iPhone much faster than "Swype." The guy in this video looks like he was typing slow on the iPhone on purpose.
I'll use the Samsung to swype my ass.

Double letters are not a problem on Shapewriter. The built-in dictionary recognizes the word even without doubling the letter. This is explained in the help files.
That said, I'm not clear that it's any faster than a good QWERTY typist. It's fun, though.
