AT&T iPhone Users: Are you Noticing Much Faster 3G Speeds?
Earlier this month, AT&T had announced that they had completed the software upgrade necessary for the deployment of HSPA 7.2 3G network technology across all their 3G cell sites. Back then, we had noted that while this was only half the job done, the carrier had still completed the entire...

First to Post! Man, my 5hitz still slow.

Do a speed test, there is an app for that! My results in Memphis, TN are: 1266 kbps in downloads and 220 kbps uploads.
-
Just ran it in Chicago (O'Hare) area and got 2525kbits/s download and 256kbits/s upload on 3G Latency was 181ms.
I ran the XTREME SPEEDTEST program.

I'm so glad to be a Canadian iPhone user, we don't have any issues here with dropped calls bad 3g service or speed which seem to be common in the states.

I did five consecutive tests on my 3gs in Kansas city Mo. My fastest down was 3154. My fastest up was 333. Slowest was 2354 307 pretty good. Two weeks ago I got 4155 down in Blue Springs Mo. So down is about 4-6 times faster and up is close to the same as before the upgrade. These are from t1 copper fed towers I can't wait to see the speed after we go to fiber fed by the end of this year!!! Eat that Verizon!!!! Droid don't!!! At around 400 kb!
-
My service has actually gotten much worse in the past 2-3 weeks. I would say my dropped call rate has about quadrupled by a very conservative estimate. BTW, I am in San Francisco.

I just discovered an interesting anomaly in speed testing.
iPhone 3G gets .66Mb/s download on its own from Speedtest.net. The exact same iPhone, tethered, shows 1.89Mb/s on my Mac.
That said, here in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles), no improvements noticed by me yet.
-
My 3G[s] tested at the same time gets about the same .66Mb/s to .89Mb/s that the 3G was displaying. My 3G[s] isn't configured to tether, so can't test it out.

"....................completed the entire upgradation procedure in a few cell sites in six of the American cities."
Is "upgradation" Queen's English or American English. Or maybe Canadian English. Couldn't find it in either dictionaries. Please help as I am hungry for knowledge.

those AT&T bunch of greedy people
they don't want to spend money to fix
the network and apple don't want to
find a carrier because AT&T giving
them money to have their mouth shut
but AT&T will lose as soon as another
carrier comes -
SEATTLE WA (Downtown)

Dean Att has just spent millions upgrading cell sites.
And is planning to spend much more this year on fiber.
They are already way faster than verizon and t-mobile and you can talk and surf at the same time. -
Just google droid speed test and you will see that Att is better. Unless you don't live in a Att area ie out In the sticks you want Att/iPhone just check the coverage map. Also Att has edge everywhere. 170k edge vs verizon 450k 3g don't get sucked in by the adds.

Same here. I'm in a regular 3G city that just got full coverage a few months ago. My calls are fine, but my data sucks.
-
We just got 3G all over the city a few months ago. I was getting 1-2mbps, in the last week or so I'm getting 670kbps.
And traveling where I used to have 2G, I get no signal. The reason I've stayed with AT&T so long is that everyone else doesn't work 20 miles north or south of the interstate. Now AT&T is the same. I travel frequently, and now I'm screwed.
