When connected, it shouldn't show the damn virtual keyboard, come on.. screen real estate is very important on that small device..
Also, this isn't portable, combine it with this http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/keyboards-mice/5a7f/ and you got me interested.. I have to be able to take this with me easily.

if someone, somewhere, comes up with a solution like the folding keyboard that I had with my old Palm PDA, I'd have a look at it. (Be nice if there was a way to adapt that keyboard to accept the iphone connection. Fantasy, I know.) Cheers,

For someone looking to do something like minimally practice piano on an airplane, or make their iPhone act more like a laptop, by all means, go for it. Would I buy it? In honesty, probably not. I've gotten quite used to the touch screen keyboard.
Granted, they both ARE pretty cool.

I remember when the first iPhone/iPod Touch came out, there was a group of people who only made hardware mods, like microphones for the then-jailbroken-only skype app, or, like you said, a fold out keyboard. Granted, they aren't commercial, but it has been done before. Now that the iPhone SDK supports external hardware, we might actually get somewhere.

Part of the appeal of the IPHONE is the built-in keyboard..at least to me..to get an actual keyboard pad would render it ridiculous in my opinion.. cheers!
