I hope they do but I doubt it - it sounds like it took a bit of engineering to make it work on the ipad which has a lot more power than the iphone. But, could be wrong!

yea the iphone is def. not powerful enough to run a text editor. and transparency transitions? yea right..

Well I don't think the tech side is the reason apple will not make iWork for iPhone. I mean the iPhone 4 has the same processor as the iPad.However it the larger screen that allows more space for buttons and more accurate use of the touch screen that is the power of the iPad.
