Apparently the Ipad (sorry, Inq reader) has a In-Plane Switching (IPS) LED backlit LCD panel.
Most LCD screens - whether backlit by LED's or CCFL backlights - tend to be Twisted Nematic (TN) panels.
IPS displays are mainly used in high-end colour accurate displays, so I'm not at all surprised about the deep black and rich colours reported. The brightness is probably more down to the LED backlight quality.
I suppose we can be impressed that Apple managed to get an IPS display into this device at this price point. - though ... would it have been worth putting a cheaper TN panel in and making an even cheaper device???

I live in uk and still havnt seen a very important topic covered regarding the 3G model. If the devteam release a jailbreak does that mean I can simply remove the sim from my iPhone 3GS and insert in into ny ipad (when I get one)

Presumably yes, but the iPad uses a mini-Sim card so you would have to very carefully cut off the excess plastic around the metal contact points on your current SIM card to morph it into a mini-sim card. google it
