Should have just got the WiFi models and use your iPhone to create a WiFi signal with MiWi. That's what I do.

Jailbreaking iPad can resolve that problem. At least for iphone, there is a source in cydia you install where it fakes 3G into being wifi for some apps that require wifi conection.

Even if you jailbreak, it might be laggy/buffering all the time. If you don't care about that or have the time to wait for a high quality video to buffer then that's your choice =). I'd choose the high quality over the downscaled video anytime though =P but I don't have an iPad..

don't you read the news? Ipad 3G it's already Jailbroken and 3G unrestrictor it's the app you all are talking about courtesy of Cydia :)
