The official report is that they can be shipped to your home as early as the 24th ("can" and "as early" being the key words) or you can have it shipped to your local AT&T store for pickup on the 25th.

What I am wondering is if the Iphone is sold like the 1st Iphone, so just pick one up pay it and go home.
So without signing any AT&T contract.
