Was Apple Right? Flash Sometimes Works And Sometimes Doesn’t On HTC EVO 4G
We have seen a lot of public discussion in the past over Apple's decision to not allow Flash on the iOS platform. While several users have questioned Apple's decision, Steve Jobs has maintained that the multimedia platform degrades performance and ruins battery life. Steve Jobs' statements against Flash have been...

Flashless iPhone suits me fine, what's the fuss? Who want's pop ups, and add's anyway? Not me
-
and why would apple want to ruin a great phone with that crap. i agree 100% with (skint.) anyway i think apple know what they are doing.
-
I totally agree Flash running native on an iPhone?? What'll drain the battery will be the app having to always run in the background to block the content like on my Mac and PC. Flash "may" be alright code but it's miss use and type of content has pigeonholed it as Trash not Flash!!

With millions more idivices joining the war agains flash in the coming weeks, it's only a matter of time before sites like Hulu and CNN.com give in to advertisers demands and switch to HTML.
-
Let's be honest, the only reason we want flash is to access certain content otherwise not available such as Hulu. I was divided on the issue of flash because we really are missing out on a lot of cool stuff however I think the only solution is to just build apps. There have been talks of a Hulu app for sometime but never seen the light. I'd much rather see a little ad run in a developed app than tons of ads slowing my iPhone down.

No, you all need flash for Newsground.com!!!!!
-
I think lots of ppl want flash simply to view mobile **** sites, like me :)
-
You are a mobile **** site?

Many restaurants websites are in flash and not available on the iPhone. Apple should give us the option to choose. But hey, what can you expect from company that only in year 2010 support multitasking??? (and even 3g won't get it, I think that my PocketPC had multitasking at 2002!).
-
Yea. Flash doesn't matter much. If u want to see clips from CNN I think there's an app for that.
-
I'm using an iPad and now I see y apple chose HTML 5 it really does work great and instantly and is easy on the battery on provides the same thing flash did. That said if HTML can to do it flash should be able to so is adobe getting lazy mebe only time will tell
-
i dont miss flash at all , its not that big a deal to me. in the end everyone will switch over to html 5 because thats what apple said. Just like xbox and Nintendo will go the blu ray route eventually because digital downloads is a long way off
-
there are plenty of apps for restaurants. flash simply puts too much strain on the hardware, which would lead to awful battery life, and probably lots of heat, and it would not work too well
-
Look I don't know about all of you but I get around perfectly with my iPhone no problem here is a site for family guy, simpsons and south park that all stream just fine spcentral.org no need for anything else. For other shows just jailbreak your iPhone. Oh and the evo can suck big hairy hungarian sack for all I care.
-
Oh god, here we go again. If you don't want flash, don't install it, let it be optional! let the users who want to install decide if they want to keep it or not, for the rest.. go **** yourselves.
-
Full flash running on my Evo. I just finished watching Iron Man straight from the browser. Good luck doing that in your dictatorship.
Thank you XDA. :)

Should look more into why people are so hesitant to switch to HTML 5.

funny..i remember when the mass majority wanted flash like their life depended on it..
now the bandwagon has changed directions -

YOU ARE A GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING COCKSUCKING MORON

I wonder if this anti-flash crap is coming from genu-whiner Apple Fanboys or actual paid Apple employees.
Apple lied a few years back when their employees were saying "Don't worry, Flash will be supported in a couple months."
-
Crashed my computer.
I have a crazy-powerful phone as a backup though.
Flash has its benefits, so does HTML 5.
Think you should have a choice between them.
This isn't Cuba.

Ten takeout restaurants nearby, but I can only see four menus on my iPhone. What to do: order from one of the four restaurants whose menu I can use; take a chance on one of the other six, or buy a Pocket PC phone that can display the menus of all ten restaurants?
I won't choose the third option, because I am hungry NOW! Ditto, the second option. Fortunately, because there are so many Pocket PC phones in use, those six restaurants won't even notice the business they are losing to the other four.

Apple said that they really have been shown a decently working version of Flash and they decided that they couldn't actually depend upon Adobe to deliver what they claim they could. It's been reported that when Flash Beta has been installed on the Nexus One that it slows down the browser. Is that something users really want? What is wrong with Apple protecting it's own platform. Why promise users something that has not yet been delivered? Why should Apple use Flash Lite if it's only a partial solution? The iPhone experience is something that Apple has defined for user and I suppose it has its own set of rules of what is acceptable or not. Although it will be difficult to redo sites in HTML5, all mobile users will benefit from it. Even slower processor smartphones will be able to efficiently access sites. It's true that Flash games will not be available, but I guess it can't be helped.
You can hate Apple for not supporting such a common plug-in like Flash on their mobile platform, but full Flash really isn't all that feasible yet on the majority of held-held mobile devices. The iPad should be able to handle Flash, but if the plug-in is inconsistent and has bad side-effects, that doesn't help Apple or users at all. If Adobe proves it can deliver a very good version of Flash, maybe Apple will change its mind. However, I think that Apple may just want to keep the tide turning to widespread use of HTML5. Who knows for sure?

agreed with odo.. if ya need flash try to install imobilecinema in cydia. then try to go or watch some **** site..like megaporn.com then watch for the battery.. but remember not all the site flash is working..then give a try on youporn.com that's site using html5 then compare it... ya see all the different.. so just want to share some idea.. you guys will see all the different about have flash or html5. last time i tried it with my ipad.. so just want to share.. we all have our idea in our head. but we just cant tell which one is really better.. i cant say you wrong. but u cant say im wrong too.. so stop fighting. peace guys!! for me i like the html5 for now.. and sorry for my bad english guys!!
