No, the other person can be on wifi, you just have to trick the phone your calling from to think it is on wifi in order for it to enable facetime.

This seems to work with 3G unrestrictor as well, just flip the flag option and all is good.

I've had my 3G for a while now. I used it this morning with a friend over 3G as well. The quality was excellent. A little choppy compared to Wi-Fi, but still totally useable. As compared to Fring it 10X better. The volume is a lot louder, and the images are much better than Fring. I'm loving it.

oh wow video calling over 3g. thats new
my old NEC E616 did that and that was about 5 years ago. then again we have good 3g signal in the UK. hsdpa up to 8mbs.
video calling is a dead and pointless feature. its been and gone here in the uk.
dont care about staring at someones face while chatting. cant use it while on the go unless you wanna walk into all kinds of **** and everyone hears your conversation. -

Your totally wrong about it being a dead and pointless feature. Okay, sure it's pretty pointless for a standard telephone conversation.
But it's brilliant when you need to speak to someone and show them what you are looking at, or like the adverts show it's great for streaming live video of your kids to loved ones etc. The uses beyond a standard telephone call are vast. It's far from a dead feature, you just have to make the most of it and use it when there is a point.

In 3G unrestrictor, choose to unrestrict "phone", then tap on "phone" within 3G unrestrictor and turn on the "IsDirect" flag... and there you go, FaceTime over 3G

For everyone who had problem with using jailbreakme.com AFTER you updated to OS 4.0.1...I suggest you RESTORE from iTune OS 4.0.1 and THEN use jailbreakme.com. I had OS 4.0 and jailbroke it with jailbreakme.com. I then used iTune to update to OS 4.0.1 and then tried jailbreakme.com. It failed over and over again. Instead I did a clean RESTORE from iTune and now it worked fine.

hey think about it like this u can only make calls over wifi with AT&T network.now with this u can do both and if u have the unlimited plan like me then u can see that the trade off is worth it!!!!

downloaded the STUPID rockapp to get MyWi 4.3 for IPhone 4.... 1 kb down, 1 kb up...
rebooted and now getting 100 kb down.
