Apple has announced that over 1 million users have joined Ping, Apple’s new social network for music in the first 48 hours. According to Apple, one-third of the users who had downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping. This is despite some early problems with the new social network for music...

overall the performance in iTunes 10 is better than iTunes 9.x . the logo doesn't look that awful though..
-
the logo is GAY.
I hope they string up the dillweed who donked that thing out in 5 minutes using iPhone apps.
-
Many companies change their logos ... how many times has AT&T changed their logos over the years ... and how many times have companies changed their names .. for example, Verizon. Steve justified the logo change during the presentation.
I hope Facebook Connect comes back to Ping.

Who cares what the logo looks like, if you think you can do better then get a job at apple and show them your work! It is the software that matters, you should have known the icon would change by the way the iTunes app looks on the iPhone.
-
You're a goddamn idiot.
-
Logo is good. It's gonna change eventually like 8Tracks and cassette tapes.
-
the logo is simple yes but it says music now. more people are downloading music now from my opinion so they ditched the cd in the back lol
-
The logo is absolutely horrible and anyone that disagrees honestly can't know the first thing about color schemes or basic design.
-
AHH THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END! THE ITUNES LOGO CHANGED!!! AAHHH FTW!
-
that logo is so freaking retarded!!! I can't stand seeing on my desktop. so I deleted it. now I acess iTunes via spotlight and windows search.
but to be honest, I can't take it anymore. I'm gonna kill myself because of this lame icon. Steve jobs, the blood is on your hands!!! and the whole iTunes team!!!
-
your guys are so superficial. who gives two bits about the logo... the app works faster and better. if you guys are picking apps based on logos adobe would be bankrupt by now.

Anyone else having iTunes 10 crash using an iphone 4 IOS 4.0.1 jailbroken, when clicking on the apps of the iPhone?
My iTunes 10 crash every time I try to access the Apps tab of the iPhone. -
What about the stupid grayscale navigation icons on the left? If you want the color icons back, search google for "itunes10color.zip" (Mac only)
-
i think steve jobs is very rude to just reply saying 'we dissagree' and to be honest the new logo suks
-
disagree*

Yes its true if you ask someone who hasn't seen the new logo yet they won't reconize its itunes its 10years of recognation maybe he could change the icon in the original but than making a miror of the Disk or someting . Just something small like when they changed the icon from green to a blue music note

Funny, I actually like the logo much better. I always thought that the CD was lame. I haven't messed with playing CDs in over 2 years. I still buy them but all I do is rip them to my PC in FLAC and store them away. I then create high quality VBR MP3s and put them into iTunes and on my iPhone. I agree with the change 100%. CDs aren't sold through iTunes and never have been. Why use a CD for the logo when dealing with digital downloads?
To everyone who is complaining, could you do any better? The only thing I can think of is maybe taking the Apple logo and carving the notes out of the middle of that. I saw the logo and thought cool, they finally changed it. That's about as much as I thought about it. It's just a logo. Some of you guys are reading way too deep into this. The saying "you can't please everyone" gets more true each day.

Agreed.
-
Agreed. Finally someone who isn't an idiot.

One thing i do think the logo did was make it easier to find on my desktop....i have quite a few icons right now that have cds as there logo...power iso, img burn, etc....i think it helps single it self out more...other than they maybe another 5 mins in the over couldnt hurt the look either.
-
Agreed also
-
is there a pc one? I don't really like the grayscale
-
is it just me or does anyone else miss the "burn cd" button that used to pop up at the bottom of the playlist when u wanted to actually burn a cd...
-
yeah didnt you know the software icon is the most important part, no one will run a program without a cool or recognised icon :p dumbasses.
-
oooh I just googled for icon editors. Just 1 or 2 then. Personally not bothered what it looks like. I only use Itunes for backing up my calendars, contacts and updates etc. If I could find a 3rd party prog that could do the biz Apple would be inserting itunes sideways.
-
I disagree.
See, there was nothing "very rude" about that. I'm just disagreeing! I'm not saying you aren't entitled to your POV, and neither is SJ in his reply. He's merely disagreeing. What else is there to say?
-
It certainly ties in with the iOS-based icon more than before.
Sheesh, you'd think no-one ever noticed the iOS iTunes app icon before. :)
So I have to agree, when I stop to give it some thought, yes, the CD-based icon seems very antiquated! Rather than change it to something completely different from iOS, they dovetailed.
Keep in mind, folks have a LOT of time on their hands, and sometimes people just like to hear themselves vent in knee-jerk fashion. A lot of bark, no bite.
-
why he dissagrees. if someone takes the time to email him they deserve more than a two word reply
-
The logo is uninspiring, Ping just doesn't offer what people expect from a good networking utility! It doesn't compare to the Facebook/Spotify partnering, and artists need an invite to join, this restricts the indie music scene! Good one Apple http://bit.ly/9nLNiE

I have a feeling you are all the same person
