iOS 4.1 Release Date - September 8; iPhone Dev Team Warn Jailbreaks And Unlockers To Stay Away
Steve Jobs had announced at Apple’s special event earlier in the week that iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch users will be released next week. We had reported that even though Apple’s US site continues to say that iOS 4.1 coming soon, Apple’s Spanish site had confirmed that iOS...

ya have no choice on 4.0.2 now
-
damn hope they can jailbrk this iso...my 3g iso4.0.2 is so bad
-
not true.4.1 will have new baseband and bootrom from what i know..so you might reconsider.
-
I won't be upgrading immediately. I will await an effective jailbreak and unlock.
-
no jailbreak for 4.02 and dont upgrade to 4.1????what am i supposed to do to jailbreak new iphone 4 with 4.02 allresdy on it
-
deffo. get my 3g back up to speed but lose JB. seems a good enough trade off. seen the speed test vid. if the reviews are positive then bye bye jailbreak (for now, at least)
-
Well frankly my 4 is great without a JB, tho i'd be really pleased if the Devs do release for 4.1 - doubt they will tho.
-
HDR Photo on cydia?? If and When ??
-
Dev team will probably wait for 4.2 that'll be out on November
-
Has crApple stumbled on a good way to keep jailbreakers out?
If they announce a new update soon everytime they release the next update, we will end up waiting for the next firmware to get a jailbreak... and so on, and so on...
Just food for thought. -
Had a 3GS with 3.1.2 on it, jailbroke and completely great. Then the damn vibrate switch broke to the point where any movement would vibrate the hell out of the phone. Took it in, they gave me a new 3GS with 4.0.2.. I'm incredibly sad now, no jailbreak. And while there are a few features in the 4.0.x firmware that I like, I hate the multitask and memory consumption of it.
Please please please please jailbreak 4.1 please please.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if they choose to wait for 4.2 in November before a new JB is released. If not, I'm sure Apple will patch the JB from 4.1.
-
No one has mentioned this yet, but 4.1 also has full avrcp support meaning you can now change your music tracks using your Bluetooth device. I've tested this on the 4.1 gm.
-
just jb 4.1... proximity and bluetooth problems will be fixed! everybody will be happy to stay with their jb iphone 4s by them.. will not care about 4.2 besides. 4.2 will be mostly for ipad that I know of.
I got my 2nd iphon4 with 4.0.2 cant wait to have both my iphone 4 jbroken.. it sucks to have one jailbroken and one not.
-
Yep, they've sussed it. Once 4.2 is out, Apple will say, oh in jan 4.3 will be coming out, and the Devs wont know when to release..
-
Wow, there are a lot of people on here with basic English comprehension problems.
Let's try this again, with some bolding to assist:
MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has advised users who want to jailbreak and/or unlock their iPhone to avoid upgrading to iOS 4.1 when it is released next week.
As in, if you already have a working jailbreak, don't run out on day 1 and click update in iTunes... hold off till there is a jailbreak out for the new version. they issue this standard warning for EVERY release. Yet a lot of people took this to mean they will never jailbreak it and just leave users hanging for up to 2 months. Even though the next paragraph in the blurb says they are working on one.
Confused....

updated my 3G to iOS 4.1 GM and its working fast...jailbreak dont work for now so dont try it.... :)
-
I left my 3g on 3.1.3 because I read so many bad things about ios4, im now wondering if it is time to update? is the latest edition of ios4 jailbreakable as I will need to unlock again too :) pls advise. Oh and by the way im not very tech savvy so pls respond as if im a simpleton lol :)

Andy do NOT upgrade to ios4! There are many problems with users who have iPhone 3G, worst of which is the extremely slow operating speeds. Apple has confirmed that the new 4.1 addresses this issue but if you have a jailbroken/unlocked phone I would recommend against the update as of now.
-
Thanx James,
I was only considering updating because some of the apps are playing up a bit now they have been updated for ios4, I have 'co pilot' satnav and it keeps freezing since the update
Think it sounds easier to stick on the 3.1.3 though -
I'm in the process of downgrading my wife's 3g back to 3.1.3. 4.0 is way too slow on the 3g; makes the phone unusable (even w/ spotlight turned off).
-
my understanding is that you can only downgrade back to 4.0.1 if you saved SHSH blobs, specific to your device, on cydia's server prior to upgrading to 4.0.2. if you never saved SHSH blobs you cant downgrade.
-
Only if you saved your SHSH blobs for that OS, which if you were smart enough to do that, IDK why you would upgrade soo quickly as the only difference is the PDF exploit.
-
I have a FACTORY unlocked phone. So I will most definitely be upgrading to iOS4.1 as soon as it comes out. Sounds cool!
-
For some reason i downgraded by just putting my ipod in DFU mode and then choosing firmware 4.0 after i downloaded it from the internet,
I updated to 4.0.2 on accident and i tried this dispite my ipod never being jb and therefore never saving my shsh blobs to the cydia server.
How this worked...I dont know. -
The Dev-Team always says don't upgrade until they say they have a JB ready. Everyone on 4.02 should upgrade to 4.1 and just be patient and there WILL be a JB eventually just give those guys time to come up with it. This cat and mouse game has been going in since the first JB was released. Everyone needs to stop freaking out and just sit and wait.
-
you CANNOT downgrade if you bought the phone with 4.0.4 on it.. read before you decide to put your 2 cents in. dont be a know it all
