Wish they would focus on brining the latest IOS 4.1/2 to the ipad it feels dated compared to my phone and it is only six months old

I'd be good with the memory and the USB Port.

I'm looking for closer to desktop class performance for surfing, which is primarily what I use my iPad for.
-
I need even more memory than that, and at least one USB port.

Simple math. 7" with retina display. 7" is 4 times the surface of 3.5" => the iphone's screen size
To get retina (more than 300ppi), you will need 4 times the resolution of the iphone => 1920x1280 => Full HD screen
Will the CPU be powerful enough to display 1920x1280 ?
That would explain why it's 7" and not 9.7
To have 9.7" with retina you would need more that Full HD resolution...
Anyway if that's the case i'm definitely buying it :) -
You are definitely right. If it is the case I am purchasing it also. Wow!

Well I have written 3 iPad apps and I can tell u straight the CPU as it stands isn't good enough to render games at that resolution. Sure we could see hardware accelerated video but we would need at least a dual 1.6gb or better processor to handle this size screen and even then it would have poor performance.

I don't want smaller screen ... iPod is my notebook replacement of choice (I got a desktop PC at home, not a laptop), therefore I do not want the screen to get smaller .. in fact I want it to become even bigger because one day I dream that a full OS will be ported to the iPad (such as a windows, mac, etc...) to take full advantage of the touchscreen controls.

iPad not iPod, sorry, lol
