They could never buy Facebook because Microsoft or Google will not allow it. Don't see a partnership happening either but better integration with iOS is more likely.

I agree with what T Said. Facebook has partnered with Google And Microsoft "Bing" for several initiatives. For apple to buy facebook would break a lot of things that apple can't provide. The update to this article sums up the best thing that could have happened.
