Im a T-Mobile UK user when I go to the USA I bring my sync cable with me. My point simple im sure T-mobile are not stocking purely to support unlocked Iphones and customers from the UK. Why go to the expence im sure visiters do as i do and bring our cables and im sure anyone using an unlocked Iphone could go to apple or buy online. Simple answer T-Mobile may be covering for actually getting ready to supply Iphones to its customers in the USA and accidently started stocking cables to early so having to release a very weak cover story.

Quite possible

why not release on both carriers would make sense and the way sprints ceo is in love with apples iPad might as well give them the iphone also

I use unlocked iPhones on T-Mobile and their customer service is always eager to help me when I have issues. They have even sent me configuration documentation to set the phones up on their system.

Now what about the micro sims?
-
buy cutter on ebay for $14 and enjoy
-
Lol - plot thickens... Tmobile accidentally shipped a number of micro-sims to customers who ordered standard sims on Friday... Google tmobile and micro sims for pics. The alleged reason is that, oh, the micro sims are for the galaxy tab (that, btw, uses standard sims...). Lots of flimsy excuses.

I would prefer the phone to be unlocked and can be used with any carrier of my choice.
-
i agree with fas i would also prefer unlocked phones

In follow up and not to make all you USA Iphone users jeolous or anything but Iphone 4s can be bought from Apple directly over sim free, any GSM sim works in them so when I come to the states I let my phone roam and then when im settled down and ready i swap to a USA T-mobile sim card saves fortunes in charges

It would be to everyone's benefit to avoid exclusivity agreements especially with ATT. Apple could sell a TON of products if it allowed unlocked phones and multiple carriers. I can't think of any reason why we shouldn't have a choice!
Well except this is America where people apparently aren't capable of making decisions about the products we buy and use every day.

T-Mobile all the way!! Better plan rates and customer service.
