On same network? So basically... in a hotspot, your going to see a hacker sit there with a computer or other device, hacking your stuff at for instance a coffee shop...
Serious threat, but honestly, very minimal and stupid idea if it isn't through 3G connection the security flaw.
WiFi is a bit limited and the time frame also limited to do things, so no, good update, but I didn't see this as a REAL problem so far :P

Why would anyone use a public WiFi for transactions?
My tip is to use tethering via 3G (e.g. MYWi with strong password) if you must connect from a notebook.
The best bet is to stay on your private WiFi and do whatever transactions you want.
