The accident rate also has to do with how people are using the phones. The more applications running on the phones, the more often people use the phones that leads to the higher accident rate.

I do use the case, but about once in two weeks I have a "glass time" - I just take my case off for a while to enjoy the feeling :) As for accident rates, I think it really is all abou that glass back... Dint buy an iPhone if you're gonna drop it all the time eh? I actually had it fall 2-3 times before I got the case, and the back took no damage at all.
