How To Replace iPhone 4 Glass Back Panel With Aluminium Backplate
We have written about a number of third party back cases for the iPhone in the past. You may remember the beautiful titanium alloy back casing for iPhone 3GS and the aluminium backplate for iPhone 4 quite distinctly.
Such mods are becoming increasingly popular for iPhone 4 and are also among the easiest to perform if you have the necessary tools.
This guide will take you through the step by step instructions necessary to perform this procedure.

Too bad this works only for those without apples new special 5pt star torx screws... It's becoming a norm for serviced iPhones,replacements and also newly bought phones...

iPhones are very expensive to maintain. Shouldn't they just work?

I think they changed the screw size to a torx t3 or t4 kuz I used the Phillip untill I got my phone replaced and now it doesn't work anymore

You aren't required to replace the back glass for it to work! For that matter, the phone works just fine as a smartphone without updates, jailbreaks, or any other add ons. Those are just what makes the iPhone so awesome!

Just so you guys know, this is a cool looking back case, but I lost at least 2 bars of signal strength. I put the old one back on, black and metal is the way to go!

I took mine in to the genius bar with a bumper case on and an aluminum back... no issues and the employee looked at it, tapped the back and said "thats cool".

I ordered mine from CNN website as stated in the older post regarding this, it looks great and I have not had any issues regarding reception or signal loss due to this case. Many of my friends here in Korea are very envious of this case, and wish that it were easier to obtain. Great product, but I wish that the text print on the back would have been better quality, I can see after time that the text will become worn off because of the paint and not engraved like the original Apple glass back.

I just out the aluminum back on mine and while it looks awesome, the flash is now useless with out a divider, and the camera seems to be washed out somewhat, like light is bleed into the lens.
