AT&T Slashes Price Of iPhone 3GS To $49
AT&T has just announced that it is slashing the price of the 8GB iPhone 3GS model to $49 from $99, with a 2-year contract.
AT&T has also indicated in the press release that the offer will also be available from AT&T stores as well as Apple stores.

maybe the are trying to lock in customers for a two year contract prior to loosing them due to a possible announcement of a new Verizon IPhone next month..

Yup, this is att's last ditch effort to lock in as many customers as they possibly can before the verizon iphone is announced. I doubt that many customers will defect. I will be staying with att and hoping the network improves if enough customers leave.@dennis, you can't get it in sweden since this is an att only deal and requires a 2yr contract with them here in the states.

iPhone's are free in Australia on a 2 year contract of $60 a month or more and I got the first 3 months free.@Dennis it's not going to happen just by one from where you live

@dennis: The early termination fee is $325 or you need to maintain service for 2yrs at around $70 per month.

Well AT&T is facing the heat and nothing else as the new Verizon deal will hurt their sales the most.
