Apple's App Store Hits 10 Billion Downloads [Updated]
The number of apps downloaded from the App Store has just crossed the 10 billion mark.
As you might be aware, Apple had launched a 10 Billion App Countdown promotion to celebrate the milestone.
Apple is yet to announce who downloaded the 10 billionth app from the App Store and won the $10,000 iTunes gift card but should announce it shortly.
Apple has updated the landing page of the promotion to say:

Geez, y'all clearly don't read your comments, or the rules of the give-away. IT'S NOT THE 10 BILLIONTH DOWNLOADER WHO WINS. IT'S A DRAWING THAT EVERYONE CAN ENTER. THE DRAWING ENDS WHEN THEY HIT 10 BILLION DOWNLOADS.Maybe shouting it will help. Morons.

No, it clearly says that 10 billionth downloader will get the prize. Anyway, for those curious who won...The prize went to Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, in the UK. She downloaded a free game app called Paper GliderI think this thread needs some updating...

Thank you!! It is a drawing and ANYONE could have entered up to 25 times per day. The person who downloaded the 10 billionth app doesn't mean anything. It was, as apple said, "for a chance to win..." apples page was pretty clear about this when the contest was still going on...

What the hell are they going to buy in itunes worth that much? Plus they'll have to pay the taxes for **** you can't really resell. Unless you can buy iDevices from itunes. I was say screw it.
