Don't understand why Apple traditionally has kept the same resolution and later choose to quadruple it. GUI is floating point. I'd even put Image@1.3x.png in my Resources folder if I had to.

It'd be crazy for Apple to do that to the devs. And it would take MASSIVE processing. At 2 ghz to function and still keep customers happy!

I don't think Apple will put in Retina Display in their iPAD 2. The screen is too big of an iPhone and will definitely cost more.

That would be a huge disappointment, and it could be what keeps me from buying the iPad 2 (which I was planning on doing this summer). Now, the question is, would I buy a different tablet or wait for the iPad 3? I've already been waiting for the iPad 2, so I don't think I would wait again another year. We'll see what Apple brings out this Spring.

Pinch and zoom is nothing more than image scaling. Try it in Safari and notice the web page only redraws once you lift your fingers. Believe me the current processor is only just capable of rendering at 1024x768.
