Verizon: Mobile Hotspot Will Cost iPhone Customers An Extra $20/Month
Earlier today, Verizon’s Chief Operating Officer, Lowell McAdam revealed that it will be offering the unlimited data plans on top of customers calling plans to iPhone customers.
Macworld has just reported that they have also received pricing details for the mobile hotspot feature, which is seen as one of the major selling points of the Verizon iPhone from Verizon’s Executive Director of Corporate Communications, Brenda Raney.

thats a bit of a rip off really isnt it. Hope O2 dont do this

The question is: can the phone use its own wi-fi for Facetime?
-
LONG LIVE THE JAILBREAK AND " MY WII , APP !!!
-
jailbreak + free tethering FTW
-
unfortunately no, the one wifi chip is being used to make the mobile hotspot. If Verizon really wanted ATT customers to switch, they would let you facetime over 3G, now theres a selling point.
-
ill continue to use mywi, and keep my unlimited at&t data
-
That's stupid, but oh well for that the hotspot feature of the iPhone just became a miminal selling point. My wife has the crappy palm pre, but it has unlimited data and the hotspot feature is free, I'm never going to end that contract, ha ha Verizon I'm going to suck you dry on that one...
-
I dispize verizon especially where i live northern indiana att is way better
-
Would FaceTime work on Verizons 3G CDMA technology due to it using voice and media at the same time? I didn't think Verizon customers could talk on the phone while using media. That would leave me to believe they wouldn't be able to FaceTime on 3G.
-
there will be a jailbreak to unlock this feature for free.. like tether me does for at&t
-
that's a great news, $20 more and you get an unlimited data plan. Verizon will win over it's competition in no time.
-
Verizon hasn't announced whether or not they'll allow facetime over 3g. The iphone's capable of it, but it's been a restriction from at&t.If verizon follows suit, then no you won't. But your friend could facetime using your hotspot.
-
why pay 20$/month when u can tether u r unlimted data using mywi i have been using it to tether my wifi ipad for months now and no problem and the speed is good.
-
The speed is great! My boss had a Verizon card for his laptop, I tether my laptop using mywi. We did side by side speed tests throughout the day in LA & Orange Counties and my connection was always faster. Mines a lot cheaper than the $60 Verizon card too, free (after purchase of mywi).

Is there a difference between Tethering and Hot Spot?? Isnt the same ****?
-
my JB'd 3GS supports tethering without the need of MyWi app...
-
hear hear! You people are hopeless. Waiting to sign a contract with V for 2 years to get LAST years phone that doesn't even have all the features as the current model i.e. Surf n talk. Then having to pay xtra for things that we already have ala jailbreak. Wifi/Bluetooth/Tethered sharing n FaceTime over 3g. A few months from now they'll have an even BETTER iphone with all kinds of stuff. Y Not Wait!?
-
PDA Net= free Wi-Fi hotspot for me..on 4.2.1. HAHA..SUCKS FOR YALL..
-
When an iPhone does FaceTime it uses wifi for both voice and data. If it separated the two services, lag on either side would cause your voice not to match your video. I have facetime'd over 3G using the My3G jailbreak app. It drops the call once in a while but in that instance, all of FaceTime (voice and video) is going over the 3G data plan.
-
And when you get a phone while tethering on Verizon... Buh bye Internet.
-
20$ is quite expensive as just 2 GB.
-
S is correct. Verizon is not capable of providing voice and data at the same time on 3G, therefore Facetime will not work unless connected to WiFi. 2Gb is about a days worth of usage for a standard corporate user. Not even worth your time or money. Cannot wait to see the cost if you go above 2Gb.
-
WITH MYWI AND PDANET ALL U NEED IS UR UNLIMITED DATA PLAN LOL
-
Well, I guess I'll keep my MiFi 2200 and opt out of the $20 iPhone charge. Seems ridiculous all around.
-
Lol want FaceTime over 3G and wireless tethering free with unlimited data on any network?! JAILBREAK! Lol! Then download MyWi and My3g(I am not affiliated with MyWi or My3g)
-
I think that the $20 tether on verizon would be a good deal if they allowed a limited data plan on smart phones, but since the $30 smartphone data plan is the only level and it is unlimited the tethering for hotspot capable phones should be at no additional charge like it was for the Palm Pre. I have heard that the data is not realy unlimited like it lists but a 5GB per month cap if so then it should be free up to that level and a charge if you need more like $5 every additional GB above 5GB and a $20 charge for true unlimited this would be a better setup and would allow for those who would only use the tethering a little the ability to use it when needed but not have to pay a arm and a leg for the provledge.

Thanks for your content. One other thing is when you are selling your property yourself, one of the problems you need to be cognizant of upfront is just how to deal with property inspection records. As a FSBO seller, the key towards successfully transferring your property in addition to saving money with real estate agent commissions is awareness. The more you know, the better your property sales effort is going to be. One area where this is particularly important is information about home inspections.
