iPad 2 Will Be Thinner, Lighter, Get Front-facing Camera, More Memory, More Powerful Graphics But No Retina Display

Wall Street Journal reports that the next generation iPad is already in production.

WSJ reports that according to “people familiar with the matter'” iPad 2 will be thinner, lighter and get at least a front facing camera, more memory, more powerful graphics processor but the resolution of the display will be similar to the first generation iPad.

I'm a sucker for my iPad and will still buy the iPad2, even without a "Retina" display. I'll buy iPad3 next year with higher resolution as well :-)

A better display, even if not the same dpi as a retina display, should be paramount. 1024x768 just isn't very nice considering the displays in most highend smart phones are very close to this.

SS, you are a FOOL.... there is no smart phone around that comes close to 1024x768, Iphone 4 is the closest at 960-by-640. Now because if the real estate, makes it "Retina" when you have a 10" display, we should atlest be able to see 1152x864 or even 1280x720 would be ideal to get us 720p resolution. but to see 2560x1536, while HD is only at 1080 lines of resolution, I Doubt we will ever see ipad with retina. let alone the price it would be if it was avail.

I agree with predator if they put a retina display in the ipad it would cost atleast 100 dollars or more that would kill there low price tag
