iOS 4.3 For Apple TV 2G Allows Users To Watch Live MLB And NBA Games
Apple has also released iOS 4.3 for 2nd generation Apple TV, along with iOS 4.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
iOS 4.3 brings few surprises to Apple TV 2G, especially for MLB.TV and NBA League Pass Broadband subscribers as they’ll be able to stream live and on-demand games.
According to the release notes, iOS 4.3 update brings the following new features and improvements to Apple TV 2G:

You should avoid upgrading to iOS 4.3 until Dev teams release updated jailbreak tools for iOS 4.3.

Based on all the reading I've done it appears the third party apps such as Pandora, ESPN etc will need to use the new APIs to Airplay enable their respective apps. However, I found a way to play them via Apple TV as is. Start YouTube on iPad/iPhone and send the signal to your AppleTV, then close the app and start Pandora/ESPN or any other audio app and it will play audio via AppleTV.
