iPad 2 Smart Cover Teardown Reveals 31 Built-In Magnets Draw The Smart Cover To iPad
According to us, the coolest thing that Apple unveiled at the ‘Come See What 2011 Will Be Year Of’ event was the iPad Smart Cover and not the iPad 2 as we more or less expected the new features and improvements based on the rumors and speculations.
Folks at iFixit were as intrigued as us and decided to disassemble it to find out whether: “how it attached perfectly to the iPad” and “Apple was using cutting-edge magnets with special properties”.

No they just don't seem worth the price they want. Thats why I'd rather splurge a few extra dollars and get a zaggmate or something comparable.

The price is a bit too high for the leather and I wonder about how long the joints will last always flodig and unfolding. I'm gonna wait

I bought 2 one leather and one poly for the 2 ipads i purchased i will be doing a review on them to see how long it will last with the abuse..

Ask the people selling gas, water, food, and everything else out there. Everything is overpriced. What ever happened to 10 cent movies? I guess apple figured if the movie industry can charge more, then why not them? Why should they be the only ones not marking up their products?

I don't plan to get a 2, but I want the smart cover for the iPad 1.

31 includes the 10 built-in magnets in iPad as well.

I had an option of a teal polyurethane or black leather s.cover at my local AT&T (5 iPads/ 4 cases) store, so I went with my only option left which was the black leather smart cover. It's one of those things that makes a purchase complete.I'd be fine if I hadn't purchased one, but once the magnets attached and iPad 2 became totally hands free with a lil' bit of style, it was worth every penny.

I don't think I'm buying one. I'm more interested in protecting the back at all times.

To protect the back just go buy some stick on pads made of rubber,cork or plastic like you get with book shelf speakers.buy at home depot or radio-shack.

Apple likes to make small barley protective covers or bumper(what a joke) an charge crazy money it's funny less material higher the cost smart bisness tho Probley cost 1$ to make

I believe this is just completely waste of money in my opinion. The price is way too high especially the leather one. I'm sure you can get one for a lot cheaper.
