Cydia - Jailbreak App Store Should Be Faster Now
One of the major complaints about Cydia – the unofficial App Store for jailbreak app is that it’s quite slow.
The “loading data” and “updating database” activities take quite sometime when you launch Cydia. However, Jay Freeman aka Saurik – developer of Cydia has been working hard for the last three months to make things faster.
He just tweeted that things should be much better now:

LAST! SAURIK ROCKS
-
MUCH FASTER THANKS.

so the other one is no good? then I should stick with this... okay.. thanks.
-
AWESOME...GOOD JOB..LOVE IT.JUST WAITING FOR NEXT CYDIA UPDATES
-
Why not just admit rock was better and it their way!

I've had to remove a lot of stuff, including repos, to get Cydia to run faster.
-
Well, for me, it still takes 40 seconds just to load and show the home page when Cydia starts. Combined with no multitasking, it's still a little nightmare to do anything more complicated... However, once started, it seems a bit faster...

FIRST! SAURIK ROCKS

I GUESS THIS GOTTA BE PRIORITY NO MATTER WHETHER WE HAVE TO WAIT LONGER FOR THE NEW RELEASE OF SNOWBREEZE.CHECK THIS OUT, I TRY TO UPDATE CYDIA MY GRAMMA GOES SHOPPING, SHE'S BACK AND I STILL STACK ON THIS FREAKING SCREEN SAYING ORGANIZING DATA, I INSTALL SOME KNOWN APPS AND THE MORE I INSTALL THE SLOWER IT GETS AND STILL HAVE 14GB SPACE ON THIS IPHONE HELLOOOOOO!!!!IT USED TO BE A LOT FASTER BACK IN THE DAY.

miss the "Rock" installer badly. Known for its intuitiveness, super fast, lightweight and simple UI of ROCK, unlike this, cydia is the heavy weight bloated fatty pig. Still a long way to go for cydia :(

I'd check it out and tell you'll. Mean while, it would be so cool if there's a way one can wirelessly transfer ANY info from iPhone to TV by swiping a finger. For example, say I like something on Justin tv playing on my iPhone and I want to watch it on my tv, I simply swipe it into my plasma tv. Just like ImationDisplayLink. I'm thinking of developing such my self.

I too miss Rock. It was quick and I really miss the ratings which Cydia sorely lacks. I hope Saurik integrates this feature since he bought them out. There is just too many crappy apps in the jailbreak community which cause more harm than good depending on the ios version.

I suggest you should stick with this only. For latest on iPhone 4 ,iPad 2,Apple, Android and jailbreak visit www.enewsplus.com

Just the same for me... but I still respect the work this people do for us!
-
Slow or fast, it needs to have a new ultrasn0w

I'm not seeing any improvement either, and also miss the rock app, especially the easy way it kept track of my purchases and could recover my apps. That said, I 'understand' (have read) there were some architectural issues with the approach that Rock took and that the Cydia approach is better for the long term. I also very much appreciate all the work, often unsung, that these folks do for the user community. Having been an IT developer, I'm willing to do my part as a user and give feedback, but I'm slow to offer much criticism without knowledge of the big picture. Keep up the much appreciated efforts folks!

Faster? Maybe statistically. But in reality is is sucky slow. And remember, these guys aren't doing this "for" us; they're not great philanthropists toiling away for free. This is their business. Why is the JB for 4.3 slow? Because it would allow us to use a tethering app other than MyWi or the rest of the tether apps they SELL FOR A PROFIT on Cydia.Think about it, Cydia ACQUIRED Rock. How did that happen? Where's the outrage over this monopoly?

Can you translate what you just said into English?
-
Saurik is the best..:)
-
Saurik has teamed up with RockApp devs, so Cydia unifies them both now. Also yes, Cydia works much faster now, thanks.
-
Mines is still slower than my wife's reverse parking, do i have to install or update something ? Thanks guys !
-
i think they should make cydia more like rock when it comes to downloading apps. in rock you could download three or four at once and with cydia only one. thats the only thing i really hate about cydia.
-
You can install more than one at a time. Just click the queue button at the download confirmation screen.

Kicked and banned.
