Time Warner Forced To Pull Channels From TWCable TV iPad App
Time Warner, which is the second largest cable company in the US with 12.4 million subscribers had released an app called TWCable TV couple of weeks back that allows its customers to watch 30 cable channels including Comedy Central, MTV, Fox News etc on their iPad.
This hasn’t not gone down too well with content providers such as Discovery Communications, Fox Cable, and Viacom. They've forced Time Warner to remove their channels from the application.

that sucks.. damn greedy bastards! what difference does it make if you watch tv on a tv or on an iPad?

This seems hypocritical. Some time back Time Warner started blocking content that PBS was broadcasting alongside its main signal (this was before digital). Time Warner started blocking the content unless PBS paid them extra money. As a customer I was just stuck in the middle. Sounded greedy to me.Now Time Warner is accusing content providers of the same greed.I don't know that this can all be blamed on programmers. And once again as consumers we are stuck in the middle.Last time TWC pulled this, my VCR became unusable. At least this time I can just delete the app.

VCR? What's that? :-)

Sling Player wins!!!!!

What is the use of the app then?

I was afraid to date myself with the "VCR" reference, but it's about time you learned some history.

How goes Dish Network do it for entire service? Why must companies battle it out and make it hard to move forward.
