Cablevision Releases Optimum app For iPad; Turns It Into Your Personal TV
Cablevision, the 8th largest cable company in the US with more than 3 million subscribers in New York alone, has released Optimum app for iPad, which allows their customers to watch approximately 300 live channels and video on demand (VOD) on their iPad.
It turns iPad into a personal television at home. It also allows users to control their iO DVR.
Tom Rutledge, Cablevision's chief operating officer said in a statement:

Dish was the first one to have TV on the iPad .Check out dish remote access or Slingplayer .you need to have the 922 or a 722 with sling adapter

Are Apple going to take 30% of the cable subscription fee?

Apple only collects if there is a charge for the App (as far as I know). If the app is free apple does not collect a percentage.

Well so far it didn't work ..I got home and signed in to my network and tried the app again and it tells me to be on home network...don't know what's up..

Robbie, It says that content is not delivered over fhe Internet and that you have to be a subscriber of cablevision's cable service. I dunno bout you, but I had never heard of them before so I safely assumed this app was not for me.Am I super smart or are you not so... bright?

Just get a slingbox, and watch your Cable or Sat TV anywhere over the internet. Easy to set-up, and you can even control your cable or Sat box. I even watched at 30,000 feet using go go in-flight internet access. You will also need the slingplayer app for your smartphone.www.slingbox.com

I got the app yesterday after reading this article. I used it all day yesterday and today without any issue. Its very cool and the picture quality is great.

Will the app work outside of my house. Meaning my email behind another cable modem? The app is great. Not an issue yet in two nights of messing with it.
