so does this mean I can fully unlock my iPhone with 1.1.1 if I used your unlocking software on 1.0.2?

Hey Lumos,
Jailbreaking does mean not unlocking, jailbreaking means its an iPhone hack that allow users to gain access to iPhone's filesystem. In Unix terms, it basically means changing the root of the directory tree to /.
Also the Jailbreaking method in this article is not mine but iPhone Dev Team's.
However to answer your question on unlocking, folks @ iPhoneSIMFree are claiming that their solution works on ALL versions of iPhone (1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.1.1).
You can check this article for more details on iPhoneSIMFree's unlocking solution:

so has anyone used the tutorial? i started to and in the process lost all my photos and songs .. kinda discouraged now ..

I have a hacked 1.0.2. I installed all he major apps needed to run 1.0.2, such as the installer app, customize etc... But I do not have it unlocked.. My question is, can I still upgrade, and if so, which method do I use..

A small and simple question : In the entire process, I presume activation means - Activating the other features of the iPhone except phone. If I use a Cingular sim ( not the 2 yr contract AT&T sim) will I be able ot make calls? Cos' activating 1.0.2 iPhone lets you do that. Could someone please confirm it??
Thanks
