Apple Being Investigated By Privacy Regulators In South Korea, France, Italy And Germany Over Locationgate
Last week, Security researchers revealed that iPhone and iPad 3G regularly tracks the location of your iOS device and records the co-ordinates along with timestamp in a hidden file.
Bloomberg has reported that the controversy, which is being dubbed Locationgate has landed Apple into trouble as they are now being investigated by privacy regulators in South Korea, France, Italy and Germany.

This has not been blown out of proportion. I am really concerned about apple violating my privacy without my consent.This is outrageous and apple is becoming a control freak company. They want to control my hardware and what I do with it. Shame on you...

This could be an oversight. So many of our programs request location information in order to provide a localized service. That info needs to be gathered and stored, at least while we are using the program.The fact that this method of storage is new to iOS 4 is alarming. I think a full investigation should be launch to see whether this info has been used to track people down, and if it can be used in a court of law.Apple has had security scares before but this secret file may have some very serious implications.
