White iPhone 4 Thicker Than Black iPhone 4
Apple’s white iPhone 4 finally arrived today. Other than the color, it looks exactly like the black iPhone 4. However, it comes with a slightly modified proximity sensor.
It looks like there is another difference. The white iPhone 4 is also slightly thicker than the black iPhone 4.
MacRumors reports that one of their readers noticed it when the white iPhone 4 didn’t fit in his Incase slider case.

Modified proximity sensor? Didn't apple say the proximity sensor issue could be fixed with a software update? This explains why none of firmware updates actually fixed the problem.

The black iphone in the photo is a verizon iphone and the white iphone is an at&t iphone. Could this be a factor in the discussion as well? Perhaps?

At a total guess, I'd say the white materials needed to be thicker to maintain opacity and colour tone consistency.
