Hidden Facebook For iPad App Discovered; Here is How to Enable It By Hacking iPhone App [Updated]
We’ve been eagerly waiting for Facebook to launch their iPad app, which we’ve heard will be released shortly.
If you can’t wait any longer then you can play around with the Facebook for iPad app as Marvin – a smart Computer Engineering undergraduate has figured out a way to hack the iPhone version to get it to work on the iPad.
Update:
It looks like Facebook is preventing users from using the hacked Facebook for iPad app.

Works great, thanks!

Instead of the above steps, the easiest way is to use iFile after installing facebook and then editing the info.plist using the text editor built in! You won't need a computer that way!
-
i agree way easier
-
I am not having joy. I changed this: 1 to 2 using Text Wrangler. App just crashes now. :-(
-
Where is the download links???
-
For those that this worked for, does the text on the pages look horrible? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it just looks bad.
-
i'm using the ipad2 and text is fine for me...i immediately respringed my ipad right after editing the plist file. I also did not follow the instructions above...
-
I figured out. I had enabled Retinapad for the Facebook app. Once I turned that off, uninstalled Facebook, and reinstalled, it looks "normal" now.

I'm using an unjailbroken iPad 2, and nothing happens for me. What should I do?
-
Here is the Facebook folder located in the file system. Can't find it using ifile
-
Had a problem logging into Facebook the first couple of times. After that no problems. Did notice the chat window went away.
-
I located the folder and file but am having trouble with changing the value. I'm not exactly sure what to change using the editor. I found the line I need to edit but am not sure where to put the 2 as there is no 1. Can someone shed some light
-
Now I am not able to log on. I keep fetting message unable to log on to facebook try later
-
I'm having the same issue as you Melvin... I reverted to the iPhone facebook app and I'm able to log in but not with the changed to make it iPad app. any ideas anyone?
-
yea I keep getting the same thing...
-
Same here...cannot log on from the iPad version
-
Yup, Same for me. Facebook is refusing the connection me thinks. They've wised up to it.
-
It keeps crashing whenever I try to open it on my iPad 2. Any ideas?
-
Thanks but I rather wait... If I delt with the old version and all the bugs then I can wait for the final version ... But t does look pretty cool... Thank you iPhone hacks!
-
Same here. Conver to iPad, can't login. Go back to iPhone version, can login just fine.
-
Did it with iFile. Had a nice promising fullscreen login page, but then "unable to connect to Facebook". Bummer. :(
-
Yea I can't log in either. How annoying that the iPad version is actually there but we can't use it. Pathetic really
-
Where is the Facebook.app in file, can't find it,can anyone say where the app is?
-
Steve I can't find Facebook app in ifile can you say which folder I will find it in?
-
just do a seach for facebook in iFile and it will come up. No point though as it no longer works, as likely getting blocked by Facebook, who want to officially release the iPad app and make a big song and dance about how long its taken them!

Hi,I'm trying to use the iPhone Explorer for Windows, to edit the Facebook files, but everytime I have a device connected, the program crashes out, (I've tried both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 connected to it)If I don't have any devices plugged in, it runs the program fine. I've tried in compatibility mode and still no joy!Anybody got any answers??
-
sorry if this sounds stupid, but where do i find it in ifile. looked at applications but no luck?
-
If you get the error "Login Failed", click sign up for Facebook, under that you will see “I already have Facebook” click that log in as normal.I found this on another site and it cured the Login Failed issue for me...
-
Ust search for Facebook.app it will take a few mins to find it but it will. No point as Facebook seem to have blocked ir
-
yes it logs in but not in the actual app lol it's in a crappy little browser. Any other suggestions?
