Omnivision - camera sensor supplier for all iOS devices has announced the availability of a new 8-megapixel camera sensor for ultra-thin smartphones, which they claim is 20 percent thinner than any other 8-megapixel camer sensor in the market today.
It is widely expected that Apple's next generation iPhone - iPhone 5 will come with an improved 8-megapixel camera. But there are doubts whether Omnivision, will get the order for iPhone 5 camera sensors from Apple.

Yeah, I'd get rid of my point and shoot and just use the iPhone for those photos, and stick to the slr for the pros.

iPhones has definitely eaten into market share of not just smartphones but also point n shoot cameras.I wanted to get a new camera 2 months ago and because of my iphone it made no sense to get a point and shoot. The minimum i had to get was a DSLR in order for it to make sense.
