Skype has just released a new app called Skype WiFi for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
The application provides iOS device users cheap Wi-Fi access at over one million locations around the world, including hotels, airports, train stations, convention centres, bars and restaurants.

But, why? Am I missing the point here? If it's a free hotspot, why use Skype? If it's not free, does Skype have some sort of arrangement with them? How would that work? I'm so lost on this one.

When I was in the states I used Dennys free service most hotels have a free service if you stay there Apples stores if your are at a mall free wifi again no need to pay for a service that is free if you look hard enough

At many airport like heathrow wifi isn't free and using this get you cheap internet access. Compare to day voucher or making inter national calls its a good deal.

The rates look like they are much more than that... I looked up the rates and they are 22 cents per minute.

Honestly, if you are going to be using the Wifi for more than about 3 hours a month, it is much cheaper to signup with Boingo directly, last I checked, they charge $9.99 per month.

How can I used it on iPhone 3G. Once I go away from Skype WiFi, I seem to loose connection.
